What am I doing?

I don’t actually really know. This all started as me being a hungry student a few years back when I first started uni. I hadn’t cooked before that and basically taught myself how to cook, what tasted good and what didn’t - the vast majority teetered on the not-so-tasty side of the spectrum. I kept going and then stagnated once the workload kicked in. Finding recipes became a chore - I’d end up buying a billion things I’d only ever use once or twice. I settled. I’d rotate between a thai green curry and a chilli, and recently weeks were spent eating lentils and rice/couscous. It was tasty but man is there only so much I can take.

So I had an idea, I’ll cook through a cook-book, following through recipe by recipe until I finish. Perfect, it gives me something to cook, I get to try new foods, new techniques and I’d stop being bored. But anyone who knows me knows that I have a tendency to let things spiral out of control, crazy ideas, or just doing things unconventionally. And this blog is a result of it.

Here’s the thought process:

Hey, let’s cook through this book -> lets take photos of this food - I could post on instagram -> lets write about the food -> LETS WRITE A BLOG - I’M SURE PEOPLE WANT TO READ!

And here we are.

So, what’s the plan?

As of now I’ve started working my way through Gordon Ramsay’s “Ultimate Cookery Course” - love the man and thought I’d try different food really. I’m cooking two recipes a week, basically making lunch and dinner for every day. I’ve already cooked and photographed the first two recipes and some is being made this eve.

In the future - once finances are under control - I hope to drink my way through a cocktail book I got as a birthday gift - again I’ve stagnated at a mojito; write restaurant reviews - moreso the indie small chain places.

This blog will also host my photography for the “Art of Photography” challenges, musings on my coding adventure as I work my way through FreeCodeCamp, and any other interesting tid-bits that might be amusing.

As you can probably tell, I’m not much of a writer - so that’s going to take a lot of effort. Hopefully I’ll improve with time.

If you’ve gotten this far I leave you with one thing - this picture - the most honest sign I’ve ever seen.

You are always hungry. Get used to it.

Shoutout to Montana’s Pizzeria in Frankfurt for the realest sign going.

Much love,

Moose
